Dear volunteers and friends,
As many of you know, our long-standing and much-respected CEO Neil Robertson has announced that he will step down in March 2010 after more than 17 years in the role.
I know that everyone associated with the Scheme is saddened by this news. Neil has given his heart and soul to AOGS since its beginnings in Victoria more than two decades ago. Through his inspired leadership, the Scheme has grown into the highly successful, national organisation of which we all enjoy being a part, and this is due to Neil's vision, knowledge and enthusiasm.
As volunteers and friends, you understand your value as a key ingredient of the Scheme. Neil's ability to find and bring together varied and dedicated people from right around Australia has ensured that AOGS continues to thrive and grow.
After Neil's contribution over so many years, we must respect his decision to step down as CEO. The loss that we feel must not inhibit our recognition of how large the decision has been for him. I know that you will all join me in wishing him well for the future.
The Board will be conducting a search for a new CEO, and a professional recruitment firm is helping them in the selection process.
If you know of someone with suitable qualifications and experience who may be interested, please direct them to the advertisement that will appear on the AOGS website here from Saturday 7 November.
Thank you all for your wonderful support and I wish you all a happy Christmas and successful gardening in 2010.
With very best wishes,
Tamie Fraser
President AOGS
