Pest Alert - Myrtle Rust

South Australia

Posted: 26.06.2011

South Australia has restricted the entry of myrtle rust host material due to detections of the fungus Uredo rangelii (myrtle rust) in New South Wales.

Myrtle rust host material must originate from a state or territory where myrtle rust has not been detected, or have been certified as having been inspected and treated prior to exportation into South Australia.
Presently Victoria has State freedom status for myrtle rust. Therefore Victorian properties that have not shared host material with a property infested with myrtle rust may consign this material without further restrictions (general export conditions still apply).
