URBAN ECOLOGY PROGRAM: We are looking for qualified and experienced researchers to develop and manage research program in urban ecology. The long‐term objective of this research program is to ensure that Singapore's urban greenery infrastructure, its environment and sustainable development efforts can be enhanced through incorporation of ecological principles in the planning, design and management of its urban greenery infrastructure.

The key areas of focus include: (a) how urban ecological studies can be used to maximize the ecosystem services provided by greenery ‐ such as carbon sequestration, stormwater mitigation and improvement in stormwater runoff quality, urban heat island mitigation, air pollution mitigation, etc, and (b) how the ecology of urban landscapes in Singapore can be enhanced by increasing urban biodiversity, covering fields such as ecological restoration of impacted/degraded sites, and creation of suitable habitats to enhance biodiversity in urban areas.

Requirements
• PhD, Masters or Bachelor degree in landscape ecology, conservation biology, environmental management, or related field from a recognized university
• At least 5 years of related working experience in landscape ecology, conservation biology or management of natural resources
Candidates will be appointed to the different positions that are commensurate with their qualification and experience.

URBAN GREENERY PROGRAM: We are looking for qualified and experienced researchers to develop and manage the following research areas:

1. Arboriculture
Tropical arboriculture, focusing on the use of research results to improve the management of the urban forest in Singapore in areas relating to minimizing tree hazards, improving arboriculture practices, evaluation of tree species, improving tree health assessment using technology, etc. The successful applicant should have extensive experience in arboriculture research and management of urban forests. He/she will be tasked to plan and implement research projects in association with our partners to fulfill the objectives of the research program, and assist in the use of research results for management of Singapore's urban forest.

URBAN GREENERY PROGRAM

2. Urban Soils
Soil science for applications in urban landscapes. The objective of the research program is to overcome current limitations in the quality of topsoil and other forms of growing media for use in urban amenity landscapes, nursery potting media, specific plant groups, and other specialized applications such as rooftop greenery, and overcome common problems faced in urban landscapes such as compaction and soil nutrient management. Research is focused on the above areas and other areas such as development of soil alternatives, remediation of problematic sites, and any other emerging areas of importance. The successful applicant(s) is/are expected to provide research extension services to share research results with industry practitioners in the form of publications and workshops as well as developing specifications, guidelines and standards for soil and other growing media applications in Singapore.
