AIH Webinar: Biodiversity in Rural Gardens

Patrick lives and works in the rural hinterland of the NSW Northern Rivers where he designs and builds gardens. In this webinar Patrick will talk about the role of rural gardens in preserving and enhancing biodiversity.

Many people are leaving the cities for a tree or sea change, this comes with its challenges and requires adaption to a different way of gardening.

The webinar is targeted at people gardening, designing, living or wanting to live in rural areas. We will see how we can limit erosion, replenish aquifers and build with minimal impact on the natural environment.

Patrick’s talk will include the following sections:

  • A brief history
  • Adaption to rural gardens
  • Understanding local conditions
  • Adaption to promote biodiversity
  • Designing with biodiversity
  • Revegetation versus re-creation
  • Riparian Zones and respect for waterways


Attendees will be equipped with an ability to consider the challenges and factors for consideration when incorporating biodiversity into their garden plans.
