Postponed: AIH Workshop: Planting for Biodiversity: A Great Opportunity! (NSW)

This past year, many of our webinars and workshops have incorporated discussions on the benefits to our ecosystems of biodiversity.

It was raised in our discussions about climate change, fire prevention and biophilia. Patrick Regnault FAIH RH has also presented a series of webinars on biodiversity considerations in a variety of garden types.

Clarence Slockee MAIH RH is a well-loved TV presenter on Gardening Australia.

He already had a strong reputation as a knowledgeable senior employee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney with a particular specialisation in Australian Indigenous plants.

Besides working in the horticultural media he has a particular affinity with Australian Native Plants and runs an active landscape design, installation and maintenance business. Consulting on a wide range of projects, from all reports he is a great encourager of his staff and freely shares his knowledge.

Clarence will speak on how to think outside the square and include a greater diversity of species in large and small scale urban planting contracts giving consideration not only consider larger scale trees and framework hedging but also micro flora and mid-level shrubs and habitat creation.

Support speakers

Ally Jackson Landscape Designer will present some new and improved varieties for our consideration.

Aimee Freimanis – Plantsure Scheme (AIH Silver Sponsors) – Gardening responsibly. Aimee will give an overview of where the scheme is up to and the objective of having certification of Growers, Retailers and Installers who recommend or grow better species that will not become threatening large scale environmental weeds.

Outcomes

Attendees will be equipped with an ability to consider a broader number of species when carrying out projects or creating designs. The event will expose attendees to some species that they may have not considered using and overall we will be working towards better outcomes and Ecosystem.

** We are depending on the easing of COVID lockdowns in Sydney for this event to proceed as an outdoor, safe event. All bookings are fully refundable up to 5pm on Friday 23 July 2021 if you book and no longer wish to attend. **
