HMA NSW: Tour to Mt Tomah & Bilpin

February 23 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Join us on a wonderful day trip to the cool Blue Mountains on Saturday 23 February.

  • 9:30 am Arrive the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mt Tomah
  • 10:00 am Welcome and talk by Greg Bourke Curator Manager of the BMBG Mt Tomah.

Highlights will be the dahlia display, carnivorous plants (Greg’s specialty) and a behind-the-scenes nursery tour with details of the wollemi pine and waratah breeding programs.

We’ll also have a presentation from Senior Horticulturist BMBG and bulb enthusiast Mat Murray who has recently been on an expedition to see the bulbs of Turkey’s Taurus Mountains. Mat will talk about his 12 favourite bulbs.

After a short lunch break, we will travel to Woodgreen, 25 Powells Road Bilpin, which is just a few minutes away. This is the garden of Peta and Peter Trahar. Peta, one of the founders of the Collectors’ Plant Fair, is a renowned and celebrated gardener and Woodgreen is full of unusual plants.

  • 1:30pm Arrive at Woodgreen.
  • 2:00pm Introductory talk by Peta and tour of the garden.

This is a self-drive tour but we are happy to help you arrange car pooling. Contact HMA NSW secretary Judy Horton judyhorton949@gmail.com. Lunch options are limited – we recommend you bring your own lunch.
